Digital Evidence in Cybercrimes

This study explores the evidentiary role of digital evidence in cybercrime investigations، emphasizing its critical importance in the contemporary digital landscape. Due to the intangible and highly technical nature of cybercrimes، traditional methods of proof are often inadequate، making digital evidence essential for establishing criminal liability. The study explores the distinct characteristics of digital evidence، including its virtual nature، susceptibility to tampering، and reliance on specialized tools for collection and preservation. Also، by adopting an analytical and deductive approach، the study examines relevant legal frameworks and evaluates their effectiveness against the challenges of cybercrime. It highlights the need for advanced legislative measures and technical expertise to ensure the admissibility and reliability of digital evidence. Further، the study concludes that legal systems must evolve to keep pace with technology، requiring robust mechanisms to effectively combat cybercrime.
