Abstract
International criminal justice plays an important and effective role in prosecuting international crimes. This justice system, headed by the International Criminal Court, is considered one of the most important tools contributing to prosecuting perpetrators of various serious international crimes, such as genocide, war crimes, and others. Additionally, this judicial body operates on the principle of complementarity, intervening only when national courts are unable or unwilling to prosecute, with the aim of ending impunity. Further, it rests on a dual legal foundation combining international conventions and customary rules that enshrine the principle of accountability for serious international crimes. Furthermore, the study concludes that it is necessary to strengthen international cooperation, particularly regarding the implementation of arrest warrants issued by the Court, which helps address, to a certain extent, the limitations it faces.
