Abstract
In the contemporary world, sports have emerged as a primary tool of international influence, transcending mere to become a political arena that reflects and reproduces power dynamics. Beyond physical competition, sports serve as a strategic soft power platform within an interconnected system, acting as geopolitical venues where national interests, branding, and global influence are contested and refined. Historical evidence reveals sports’ dual role as either a symbolic extension of conflict or a channel for rapprochement, notably evidenced by ‘Ping-Pong Diplomacy’ during the Cold War. Furthermore, sports facilitate international recognition and national identity building for states seeking global presence. Ultimately, sports remain tied to political contexts, serving as a versatile tool for international cooperation and modern diplomacy.
