Abstract

The research examines the legal protection of children during armed conflicts, given that they constitute one of the groups most exposed to grave violations due to their vulnerability and need for special protection. Children do not simply break like adults; they are torn apart. The study examines the legal framework established by International Humanitarian Law and the International Human Rights Law to define the concept of the child and safeguard his rights through international conventions. It also addresses the international mechanisms responsible for monitoring violations and enhancing the protection of children during armed conflicts. Furthermore, the research highlights the international criminal responsibility for crimes committed against children by analyzing the legal foundations underlying the criminalization of such acts and the requirements for establishing individual criminal responsibility. It also explores the role of the International Criminal Court in prosecuting perpetrators of war crimes, crimes against humanity, and genocide, thereby reinforcing the principle of combating impunity and ensuring effective international protection for children.
